Itsy Bitsy Spider

Aren't these super cute!! I am making these for Will's class. This is the first one. There is a peppermint patty in the middle - I figured this would be the perfect little treat and not to much candy. I hope the kids enjoy them. Carts used Mini Monograms, Plantin Schoolbook and Mickey Font (letter "L" for legs) Will post more pics when done!!

Weekend Crafts

As I patiently await the arrival of my new cricut cartridge :) I thought I would share a few of the things I made this weekend. I've been stressed lately and decided to carve out some Mommy Time" The recipe I made a few months ago in a class and decided to finally finish it up. It started as chipboard and paper - I even bound it(with the help of my bind it all!) I am quite proud of it and am thinking of collecting some family recipes and passing it on to Will one day. Cartridges used From my Kitchen and A Child's Year.

Next I made a quick cart for our friend Gabe's 2nd Birthday. I used Doddlecharms and Sweet Treats. It came out cute!

Green Week #4

For this project we used plastic from a milk jug, juice boxes, straws and stickers- you know the ones that come in the mail that little ones like to stick EVERYWHERE!! Also note if making these place some hot glue around the straw for stability and crayons work a lot better than markers. Then again Will was more excited about the stickers than coloring! Cant' wait to saill them tommorrow.

Green Week #2 and #3

Here are some more earthfriendly projects. The first are some paddles that we made with paint sticks we found in the garage and left over paper plates. Looking forward to using these today since the yard is finally dry. Second we made a ring toss game from a butter tub,an old wooden spoon and canning rings. Will had more fun with the balloon paddles and I think I will too -once we start using them OUTSIDE!! LOL!

Green Week #1

This week we are going to share some earth friendly projects in honor of Earth Day. This weekend we attended our first kid's workshop at our local Lowe's. The kids were able to build a great flower box. Lowe's had a varety of seeds to pick from -we selected morning glorys. I can't wait for them to bloom! Will had a blast! The first thing he said to me first thing this morning if we could " go build some'em"(something). When we told him where we were going he insisted on bringing his own hammer from his tool bench! So cute!

O' Christmas Tree

We made these "Christmas Trees" with pinecones and small terra cotta pots. Will was sleepy so his enthusiasm was a little low. But they turned out nice. I added some ribbon with my glue gun for some extra pop. They really make my window sills look festive!!

Franken-Puppet

Here is a little project Will and I did. This was a Martha Stewart kit that was on clearance for 3.00 at our local AC Moore. All the shapes were adhesive on the back so no messy glue to deal with! He turned out cute and Will had fun making him. What a great project for a rainy day-not to mention Halloween!

Cricut Koozie

Here is a drink koozie I decorated with vinyl. I think it turned out cute and it was less than $2 to make!

Latest Cricut Projects

Here are my latest cricut projects -The first are some plastic pins that I picked up at a yard sale for the less than a dollar for 6(one not pictured) I labeled them using Design Studio and Vinyl-my first time using DS and vinyl. Great toy storage. I am happy with how they turned out. Then I made a purse for our cousin's birthday using the popular freezer paper method. Cousin Tiffany LOVED it!

Seeing Stars

We had a great time making this 4th of July Discovery Bottle. I got the idea from Teaching My Little Bookworm's Blog. Check it out she has awesome ideas. For this project we combined corn syrup,water and confetti. The corn syrup to water ration depends on how fast you want the confetti to flow. This project was great for practicing pouring not to mention a sparkly decoration!

Star Bird Feeders Part 2 and Goodwill Finds

After our stars dried out we coated them in peanut butter and bird seed. Then we hung them on a string next to grandma's driveway. I hope the birds (or maybe the squirrels ) enjoy them!

Stopped in to the Goodwill while running errands today and found some cool stuff. A box of crayons = $1, a shape bingo game=$.50,a set of lace shoe cards=1$ and some green glitter= $.50. Will is already enjoying his new toys.

Star Bird Feeders

This week we are working on 4th of July projects. I have found a lot of cool blogs that have inspired me to do more activities with Will. Since he almost three I am hoping his attention span will be a little longer! LOL! I can only hope. We are going to have a theme every week-reminiscent of my Childhood Ed days. The project we did today was Star Bird Feeders courtesy of Teaching My Little Bookworm's blog. We took star cookie cutters, cut of bread stars and poked a hole in them with a straw. Now they are drying. Tomorrow we will spread peanut butter on them and dip in bird seed. Then we will add string and hang from a tree branch. I think Will really enjoyed this he kept saying "Cool Mommy!" I am glad! This is the first project we have done in a while and I am looking forward to the rest of the week!

Birthday Goodies and Snake Catchin'

Here's some pictures of mom's birthday back in the beginning of the month. I made her a 60 Sucks bouquet,got her a gift to Belk(one of her favorite stores) and took her to lunch. I got the bouquet idea from the Cricut MB and it turned out pretty well. I just had to hide it from Will because he LOVES Dum Dum pops.

Also a pic of my new patio set which I am so looking forward to using this summer. Got a great deal at Wal Mart and I had some anniversary money put aside. Family cook outs will be great this season! And I figure since it's a good size Will and I could do projects and play doh on it as well. I am trying to really create a relaxing vibe on my back porch -somewhere to wind down and hang out. And my summer goal is to do more reading so this will be perfect.

We got a butterfly net at the dollar store the other day to use getting bugs out of the kiddie pool but as you can see Will has other plans for it!! He told me he was catching bees! Bees is his word for anything that flies. Instead we caught a ........SNAKE!! I am not especially scared of snakes but when I encountered this up close and personal I was a little concerned. Turns out it was just a King Snake which is pretty much harmless. And they kill copperheads so that's a good thing. Will was not afraid at all -he hissed at it and tried to follow it down into the woods.
