O' Christmas Tree

We made these "Christmas Trees" with pinecones and small terra cotta pots. Will was sleepy so his enthusiasm was a little low. But they turned out nice. I added some ribbon with my glue gun for some extra pop. They really make my window sills look festive!!

Message from Santa

Just wanted to share with everyone a cool link my friend passed along to me. It is a video of Santa for your child. He will say the child's name and talk to him/her about what they want for Christmas! It is so cool! And completely FREE!!http://portablenorthpole.tv/home

Going Batty

Here are some pics of some bats we made using little pumpkins, black paint and craft foam. Will has been so into projects lately and I am super excited -I never thought he would ever have the attention span for crafts. I still try to make sure they are small projects and usually we do them in stages.

Ween Party

A couple of weekends ago we had our first annual Halloween Party-or as Will calls it-a Ween Party! I had so much fun making decorations and even got brave enough to make the pinata. It had a few challenges along the way but I was happy with the way it turned out. One thing I wasn't expecting was how cold it was. I had planned a cool skeleton scavenger hunt to do in the dark but the kids were freezing. We were going to play "hot potato" with a severed hand but it scared some of the kids so we did it "old school" with an actual potato. Everyone had a good time even Will who for some reason refused to wear his Thomas the Train costume. We did, however, manage to get him to wear his dinosaur hoodie. You never can tell what is going on in the 3yr old brain! I already have some ideas planned for next year-I can't wait!!

Franken-Puppet

Here is a little project Will and I did. This was a Martha Stewart kit that was on clearance for 3.00 at our local AC Moore. All the shapes were adhesive on the back so no messy glue to deal with! He turned out cute and Will had fun making him. What a great project for a rainy day-not to mention Halloween!

Our Fourth

We have been so busy this month! I have several swaps I am participating in and of coarse there's Will's Birthday party in 2 weeks. This year we have decided to have the party at a local rec center mainly because he is into Thomas and they have a little kiddie train. But since it will be way too hot to be outside the whole time we are also going to do a bouncy party and that will include an inside party room. I am relieved that I don't have the extra stress of making sure the house is spotless and the yard is mowed! Not to mention worrying about complaints about the heat! Still have some finishing touches to get to though. Will post more later-here are some of our pics from the 4th. Just had a low key day at home. We had a little firework show(thanks to daddy) and played with sparklers. This was Will's first time seeing fireworks-he called them"bang bang"

Star Bird Feeders

This week we are working on 4th of July projects. I have found a lot of cool blogs that have inspired me to do more activities with Will. Since he almost three I am hoping his attention span will be a little longer! LOL! I can only hope. We are going to have a theme every week-reminiscent of my Childhood Ed days. The project we did today was Star Bird Feeders courtesy of Teaching My Little Bookworm's blog. We took star cookie cutters, cut of bread stars and poked a hole in them with a straw. Now they are drying. Tomorrow we will spread peanut butter on them and dip in bird seed. Then we will add string and hang from a tree branch. I think Will really enjoyed this he kept saying "Cool Mommy!" I am glad! This is the first project we have done in a while and I am looking forward to the rest of the week!

Be Thankful

I have been thinking a lot about how Thanksgiving really doesn't get the promotion it deserves. It gets lumped in with Christmas and I think that's wrong. Don't get me wrong Christmas will always be my favorite but Thanksgiving is great holiday too. So I have been trying personally give Thanksgiving it's own time. Usually as soon as it starts getting cold I bust out the Christmas movies and CDs but I am trying to hold back ...I also have been hitting the craft stores for decorations and crafts to do with Will. And really there isn't a whole lot to choose from. I have, however, discovered a cool magazine "Family Fun" that has a lot of great holiday ideas. Check out the website familyfun.com. Working on some turkey crafts might help a little. I will post pics later. I did find a singing turkey in my attic that I bought forever ago that Will seems to love! Here is a pic....there is a piece of dried fruit in his mouth that Will fed him! LOL!

Last Sunday we went to a Thomas event at our local AC Moore. Will is all about choo-choos lately so I thought he would enjoy this. I didn't expect him to sit long but he actually did well. Unfortunately they were using paint pens and Sharpie's to color them which I thought was stupid. But he actually colored for about 5 mins or so which is progress. They also had snow you add on to your car ...I did his snow when we got home.
